Show Notes

First Exposure to the Outdoors

I mean growing up my family was not terribly outdoorsy. I'm from as Burbsy of a community, as you can imagine in Texas. So, outside of a mall and a bowling alley, there wasn't a lot of exposure or anything like that. There was a Creek we would play in as kids, but that's it. What set the hook for the outdoors, the business and just my general passion for it was through my Mom. My mom got this wild idea. She's a triathlete, iron man level, all that kind of crazy stuff. She just called me up one day when I was in college and said, "Hey, we're going to go climb Pikes Peak". And I'm like, all right, that sounds like fun. And 13 miles later and some altitude sickness, I was hooked on it. So it started pretty quickly there and I haven't been able to slow down since.

Advice

You really need to get with the times' folks. It's time to get your technology in order. And if you're not paying attention to that, giving it the due diligence that it deserves, you're gonna get behind that curve. I touched on it earlier with the whole buying behavior changing and the need to embrace contemporary go-to-market strategies. That's the stuff people really need to pay more close attention to. That direct consumer mentality versus the traditional brick and mortar way of doing things. I think that's the big takeaway I'd leave folks.
